Harvester Trophy

news

The Harvester Trophy is a Level B overnight relay competition for teams of seven or five runners. It is modelled on similar events in Scandinavia, such as the Tio Mila and the Jukola. There are 7 classes dependent upon team composition, i.e. male/female/mixed and age etc.

This year the Harvester takes place on Cleeve Common, the highest point of the Cotswolds, starting at midnight on Saturday 25 June 2016, and finishing on Sunday morning, 26 June. Cleeve consists of fast open grassland with large areas of scattered gorse, a steep and complex Western escarpment, and other areas of old quarry workings with intricate contours.

Entries cost £13 per person (£8 for juniors but only for complete junior teams (M/W20-)). Entries will need to be paid by individuals.

Leading teams would expect 2/3rds of the event to be run in darkness. Leg lengths are normally approximately 7-5-9-7-9-5-12km for the A course and 5-7-4-5-7km on the B course. The shortest leg on the B course is TD3 (orange standard) with remaining legs being TD5/4.

Please let me know by 18th May whether you would like to participate and if there are sufficient numbers we will enter Club team(s). An indication of preferences for day/night legs and leg length would be helpful.

I will also need a volunteer to co-ordinate our team(s) on the day as I will be abroad and so not attending.
