Yvette Baker Trophy final
Yvette Baker Trophy final – the setting was good and the result was great.
HH juniors pulled off a surprise third place in the final of this year’s top club competition for Juniors in England and Wales, the Yvette Baker Trophy.
Surprise because a number of the juniors who had seen the club safely into the final at the round in Southend were not available through holidays, injuries and exams etc. so it was left to a young team to produce the (equal) best ever HH placing in the YBT final. You have to go back to 2011 when we also came third.
Anyway, back to 2019. The weather in Norfolk was warm and damp much has it had been for the last few weeks and this meant that the bracken had grown, certainly high enough to swallow most of the HH team. There was therefore little route choice and the later starters had the advantage that some bracken had been trampled by the time they got there.
HH went into an early top three placing and never looked back with everyone getting safely round and producing many creditable results.
Top 10 spots went to
Hannah | 3rd | Maggie | 4th | Issy | 4th |
Ben | 3rd | Matt | 5th | Tegan | 2nd |
Alice | 9th | Alex | 9th | Oliver | 8th |
So what else is there to say? Well thank you to a great bunch of juniors and to their parents who took the time to bring them to Sandringham.
Enjoy the summer!!
