Junior Training at Haberdashers’

juniors, news

Almost 30 juniors attended the half-term training at Haberdashers’ Aske’s school on 23rd October. Before lunch they were split into groups for different levels of experience. The more advanced group that I was with did a short warm-up relay, followed by classroom and practical outdoors sessions being introduced to the delights of urban orienteering on the school campus. After lunch everyone re-formed in teams of mixed ability for a relay round the grounds, and then a warm down.

As before on these occasions, I was struck by how lucky HH is to have such skilled and dedicated coaches, by how much work and preparation they put in, and by how much fun the kids were having. Many thanks to Frances, Gillian, Keith, Kevin and Susan.

If you are an HH junior who has yet to try one of these training sessions, don’t miss out! They are carefully crafted to cater for everyone; you’ll get better at orienteering, and you’ll make some new friends.

Finally, thanks to Rob Oldfield for arranging access to such an excellent base.
