TERRAIN A mixture of generally very runnable open heathland and woodland.
PARKING West End Farm, Ferrers Lane, Nomansland, St Albans AL4 8EG.  OS Grid Ref. TL162125.

Parking £1.  The farm has a busy stable – beware of horses near the entrance. Park as directed in the area at the very top left-hand side of the farmyard.   No vehicle height restrictions.
COURSES Courses for everybody from beginners of any age to experienced orienteers.

Course Distance Difficulty
White 1.8 km Easy – all along paths, control flags whenever you need to decide to turn.
Yellow 2.3 km Fairly easy – navigate along line features such as paths, walls, streams. Some turns with no control flags.
Orange 3.4 km Moderate – start cutting across country, some controls a bit away from line features.
Light Green 4.1 km Harder – a range of navigational skills needed to find controls on any mapped feature.
Blue 6.2 km As hard as we can make it on the area.

You may enter any course and will automatically be entered in the club’s Saturday League unless you ask not to.
STARTS Register from 09:45 to 11:15 or visit http://sat.maptypes.org to reserve map/dibber.
Starts from 10:00 – 11:30. Courses close at 12:30.
FEES Non-members: Adults £6, Juniors £3
BOF members: Adults £4, Juniors £2
Adults accompanying juniors are free, but £1 for an extra map.
PUNCHING Sportident punching will be used.
Dibber hire £1.00. Charge for lost dibbers £30
MAP 1:7500 with 5m contours, preprinted on waterproof paper.
FACILITIES Squash will be provided at the Finish.
Pre-event training is on offer for HH members.
DOGS Allowed under control at owners risk – the traffic along Ferrers Lane can be fast moving and a hazard to stray animals.  Please clear up any mess and deposit in a poo bin.
SAFETY Orienteering is an adventure sport. You take part at your own risk and are responsible for your own safety.
The crossing points on Ferrers Road for the Junior courses will be manned. 
A full risk assessment will have been carried out.
