LOK / HH Boxing Day Score

Our traditional burn-off-the-turkey joint venture with LOK. A relaxed and fun score event to help you recover from the Christmas festivities. Previous years have been mass-start but this year limits crowding by using punching starts – with up to 20 competitors starting per 5 min slot; 6 slots in total from 10:45 to 11:14. Venue Trent Park, North London.
Car park adjacent to Southgate Hockey Centre at the northern end of Snakes Lane Post code EN4 0PS; grid reference TQ 289 969.

Pre-entry 60 mins score course via Fabian4. Closing date: 23:59, Thursday, 23 December 2021. One map / one SI(AC) card per entry only.

Public transport Oakwood Underground station on the Piccadilly line – a direct connection from Central London and Heathrow airport every 10 minutes! 1.2 km walk from station along Snakes Lane, to the car park. Allow 15 minutes. Tube trains are scheduled to run to Oakwood on Boxing Day.
Should, however, trains not be running to Oakwood, then bus 121 from Turnpike Lane, Wood Green or Southgate (all Piccadilly Line Stations) – alight at Oakwood Underground station
Directions Signposted off the A110 near Oakwood Underground station Turn off the M25 at J24 (Potters Bar) onto the A111 heading south towards Cockfosters and Southgate; after 3 miles turn left at the roundabout onto the A110, then after half a mile, just after Oakwood Underground station, turn left into Snakes Lane
Terrain Mixture of gently undulating open parkland and wooded areas with some brambles. Review the 2019 map on Routegadget.
Map 1:10,000, 5m contours. Controls will be pre-marked on waterproof paper (no bag supplied)
Competition format Score event – collect as many points as you can within 60 minutes.
Controls 110 to 119 will be worth 10 points each
Controls 120 to 129 will be worth 20 points each
Controls 130 to 139 will be worth 30 points each
Penalty of 20 points for each minute, or part thereof, late.
Bonus of 10 points for each complete minute early provided all controls have been visited
Electronic Punching SPORTident (SI) electronic punching – contactless punching for those with their own SIAC card.
It will be both a punching Start and punching Finish for everybody

6 start bands each of 5 minutes, with a limit of 20 competitors able to start in each band, from 10.45 i.e. 10.45-10.49; 10.50-10.54; 10.55-10.59; 11.00-11.04; 11.05-11.09; 11.10-11.14

Toilets No toilets at the car park, but park toilets in the centre of the park 0.8km walk from car park
Also available as a short diversion en route from M25 Cockfosters and Oakwood tube stations also have toilets
Covid-19 We will run the event in line with the latest COVID Safe Orienteering guidance.

When you are competing please give way to the public. If necessary, in order to maintain distance please wait. It is important that the general public observe that we all behave responsibly during as well as before and after competing.
You must not attend if you have COVID-19 symptoms, if you have been asked to isolate by NHS Test and Trace or if you are required to quarantine having been abroad. If in doubt, please consult the latest isolation rules.
Covid-19 refund policy We will offer a full refund to you if you need to withdraw your entry because you have COVID-19 symptoms, and / or because you have been asked to isolate by NHS Test and Trace or the rules otherwise require you to isolate. Cancellation policy Consistent with British Orienteering’s Major Events Cancellation, Curtailment and Refund Policy, we reserve  the right to cancel or curtail this event whether for operational reasons, Force Majeure, or other reasons, in which case HH / LOK reserve the right to retain all or part of the entry fees.
