Map Reservation is now open. This free service saves you form-filling and time on the day, reserves a map for you and saves us effort as well. Please do so if you can.

TERRAIN Rough open grassland with scattered blocks of woodland and an extensive path network.

Registration, start and finish are located on the edge of the woods just north of the junction of Sandringham Crescent and Chiltern Road.

PARKING There is no dedicated car park. Please park considerately on local streets. There should be plenty of space available within a five minute walk off Chiltern Road or The Ridgeway. Please do NOT try to park on Sandringham Crescent.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT Route 653 from St Albans station or Hatfield station to Quantock Close, Chiltern Road.
PARKRUN Jersey Farm parkrun starts at 9:00 from very close to our start and finish. Keen runners may want to try both!

Note that first starts at our event are from 10:30 to allow time for park runners to clear (and leave us some parking spaces!) These timings will apply to all our Saturday League events this winter.

COURSES Courses for everybody from beginners of any age to experienced orienteers.

Course Approx. Distance Difficulty
White 1 .8 km Easy – all along paths, control flags whenever you need to decide to turn.
Yellow 2.3 km Fairly easy – navigate along line features such as paths, walls, streams. Some turns with no control flags.
Orange 3.0 km Moderate – start cutting across country, some controls a bit away from line features.
Light Green 3 .7 km Harder – a range of navigational skills needed to find controls on any mapped feature.
Short Blue 6.0 km As difficult as we can make it on this area.

You will automatically be entered in the club’s Saturday League unless you ask not to.

STARTS Register from 10:00 to 11:15 or visit http://sat.maptypes.org to reserve map/dibber.
Starts from 10:30 – 11:30. Courses close at 12:30.
FEES Non-members: Adults £6, Juniors £3
BOF members: Adults £4, Juniors £2
Adults accompanying juniors are free, but £1 for an extra map.
PUNCHING Sportident punching will be used.
Dibber hire £1.00. Charge for lost dibbers £30
MAP 1:5,000, surveyed and drawn by Simon Errington.
FACILITIES The nearest public toilets are on The Ridgeway next to Marshalswick Library or Sandridge High Street car park.
DOGS Welcome if under control.
