Hi All
I hope you enjoyed our event today in the late summer sunshine, and many thanks to you for coming
I had lots of positive feedback for the very good courses, with people often getting challenged by the change from detailed urban sprint orienteering to the different techniques needed in the woods. So Many Thanks to Beatrix for planning , to Simon for controlling and mapping, and to Daniel for careful considered controlling on the day.
Oaklands is almost a new area for us having been last used nearly 10 years ago and with a lot of development work since, requiring a lot of remapping. So I was pleased we were able to deliver it and would love to come back in future years, as I think it is a good addition to the HH area portfolio .
To that end in particular, thanks to Vieri and her team at Oaklands for being very supportive from first contact when I visited and we walked round, through mapping , course planning and now the event itself. We couldn’t have delivered such a good event without their support
As always thank you to all the expert team of HH helpers who cheerfully pitched in to make the event happen, the Hodsons in particular who brought the kit, did several jobs and then stayed to take the kit back home. More than the usual call of duty.
In terms of timing, we have an apology to make. We had a bit of failed communication between us, so failed to share beforehand that we had more than 30 controls on the short blue, which meant that splits beyond 30 controls didn’t register. Your finish times should I understand have been logged.
As organiser I was keen that we had a nice space to mingle and think we managed that with a welcoming huddle in the sunshine outside the Oaklands performance centre. Chocolates from Beatrix and for those lucky enough, cake from Nicola helped
