Organiser’s Comments
Many Thanks for coming out in the spring sunshine and flowers to have what looked to be very enjoyable runs on Daniels very well planned courses, Controlled expertly by Laura.
David’s photos heart warmingly show lots of folk having a good time.
Then can I say many thanks to everyone from the club who volunteered and expertly made the event happen. It’s everyone’s ability and enthusiastic participation that means we can put on very good events, So Thank You again.
Hopefully the little bit of walk to the start and back from the finish was ok, but it meant we had a good car park, and as it happens Tarmac own both Panshanger where we parked and the Moneyhole woods and farmland around the playing fields.
Lastly many thanks to both Tarmac and Better for the playing fields for letting us use their areas to put on a great event
Our next event then, is Chipperfield Common on 2nd May , with new parking at St Johns school next to the common and the event centre at Blackwell’s cafe. Guaranteed spring sunshine …well hopefully.
Neil
Planner’s Comments
Thank you to the just over 100 of you entered this Saturday’s Moneyhole Park event, I really hope you enjoyed the morning. Watching runners consistently setting off out of start getting stuck straight into the map, navigating their way through their courses, and charge into the finish funnel some time later, put a huge smile on my face. Many thanks for your feedback; it was lovely to hear so many compliments for the course designs, in what is a troublesome area for planning. Moneyhole woods are notoriously bramble-covered and with a good network of paths, I was keen to encourage route choice or corner cuts wherever possible to keep you thinking. I also wanted to make sure courses didn’t remain entirely within the immediate woodland, hence excursions into the field and longer courses taking in the woods near Black Fan Road. It sounds like you appreciated the variety on offer, and bluebells were an added bonus. Please do submit the GPX of your adventure around Moneyhole park onto RouteGadget if possible – always interesting to see!
I must apologise for control 165 which was initially placed incorrectly and understandably caused some frustration – these things happen and we’ll always do our best to rectify next time.
A huge thank you to the wonderful volunteers that make these events possible, and especially Laura who was a fantastic controller to work alongside, and Neil who has led us for the past 6 months of prep, offered me a first crack at planning, and organised yet another successful event. It has been an absolute pleasure, and I hope you’ll join us for our next Saturday series event in Chipperfield on 2nd May, or the weekly Street-Os starting in Harpenden this Tuesday!
