Blackwells Café

Another highly-successful Saturday Series event saw over 160 competitors flock to this lovely corner of Hertfordshire, enabled by a large contingent of helpers (thanks to all). Sam’s carefully-crafted courses presented a challenge to all, particularly the butterfly-loops early on the Blue course.

Although a bit squidgy under foot, the weather stayed dry and Blackwell’s Café proved to be an ideal centre to host the event – the close proximity of bacon butties is always a good thing in my opinion!

Thanks also to the Maprunner team (Helen and Simon) for getting the SIAC kit over for trial before the JK – most who used it were impressed with its ease of use and speed and many even punched an additional control or two on their way round!

Remember, our next Saturday event is at the technically-challenging Mardley Heath on 1st April, so don’t be a fool and try-out your new-found (or well-honed) orienteering skills on what I assume will by a series of expertly-planned John Duffield courses, and I hope to see many of you at Ashridge for the Compass Sport Cup heat and the JK at Brunel, Ambersham, Holmbush and Pippingford.

Bye for now!
