Sherrards Park Wood

You can save form-filling and time on the day by pre-registering at sat.maptypes.org. This is free and will reserve a map for you.  It also saves us effort, so please do so if you can.

Terrain  Deciduous managed woodland with intricate path network and some interesting ground features with steeper slopes to north.
Parking  Parking at and around Templewood School. Parking restrictions on adjacent streets are lifted at 11am. You are encouraged to arrive after 11am if possible, the start time window has been extended to 12 noon. Car parking will be available in Templewood School throughout the event but if the access track to the main car park is waterlogged  this will be limited to cars / minibuses with juniors only. Cars without juniors arriving before 11am will be directed to Campus West approx 500m away if the larger car park is unavailable. Campus West charges are £1.50 for 2 hours, £2.50 for 3 hours, £3.50 for 4 hours. Start time window has been extended to 12pm.
Public Transport  Welwyn Garden City station 1.3km. Many bus services.

Blue is as hard as we can make it on the area, white is suitable for young beginners. You will run considerably further than the “straight line” distances above. Please ask if you are not sure which course is best for you.

Starts from 10:00 – 12:00. Courses close at 13:00
Fees  Non-members: Adults £6, Juniors £3
British Orienteering members: Adults £4, Juniors £2, HH Juniors £FREE.
Adults accompanying juniors are free. Extra maps, if available, £1.
Punching Sportident punching will be used.
Dibber hire £1.00. Charge for lost dibbers £30

Facilities Indoor event centre – no dirty or spiked shoes inside please. Toilets at Templewood School. Orange squash and water.

Dogs In wood but not within school grounds. Suggest you arrive after 11am, park on road and enter event and download without dog. Don’t forget to download!
