Planner's Comments

Many Thanks for running today to everyone who took part. It was very enjoyable on a pleasant morning to see so many people out in what is quite a nice little area. Quite gratifying also to see whilst standing at the start, a suitably varied choice of routes to the first control of the 'sprint'. I had hoped people would be brave and go direct, but maybe going south simply round the path was ultimately quicker.

I was asked in November whether we could have a sprint course on Nomansland, and whilst it is not a University Campus with underpasses I didn't see why we couldn't use it. I therefore tried to plan a challenging short course taking in the best bits of Nomansland. Hopefully you agree it was acceptable, it made a bit of a change anyway.

The yellow and orange after a bit of toying around I managed to fit on the northern side of the busy road and used the ability of SI to have just one road crossing. Hopefully the orange wasn't too short and that the yellow was difficult / easy enough and that you all enjoyed the run round the common and woods.

Finally on the sprint (short green if you prefer) the control in the pit, mapped in but not actually much in the brambles, caused a few grumbles. Sorry if it was a bit confusing, we had corrected the locations of the pits, so it was fairer than it might have been, but probably I should have remapped the brambles as well. I had thought that if it was attacked from either the path junction or coming in parallel to the main path and you had the bravery to keep going you would have found it quite quickly. Maybe most people did ?

Lastly thanks very much to Jane and Nigel for organising so well particularly with all the challenges of land permission and to Hedley who improved my courses before hand and checked on the day (i.e controlled me, even if he didn't think he needed to in the first place). I realise that even if I have planned a lot it was mostly some time ago and it was good to have another go.
