February Half –Term Training The Spring junior half-term training will take place at Mardley Heath, near Welwyn Garden City on Friday 22nd February
Ace of Herts – The HH annual National event.
This year we will be on Ashridge North close to Berkhamsted. This is a National Trust area, mostly flat with a steep scarp slope to the west on Sunday 24th February.
As this is our largest event of the year we will be looking for lots of helpers, but don’t worry you will still get a chance to compete. Look out for details on the web site (www.herts-orienteering.club)
JK Festival of Orienteering 19th -22nd April; (Easter Holidays)
4 days of Orienteering and likely to attract up to 2,000 competitors. This event is hosted by a different Region each year and in 2019 it is on our doorstep as it is being hosted by South Central with all venues within daily driving distance.
Entries are now open; First Closing date (Biggest entry discount) is 13th January. Second Closing date 24th February and last closing date 24th March.
Scottish 6 Days (S6D) 28th July – 4th August
6 days of Orienteering on some of the best areas in Scotland. In 2019 the event centre is at Crieff. Certainly will attract over 3,000 competitors from all over the world. As well as orienteering, entertainment is laid on most evenings, as well as Mountain Bike ‘O’ events and lots more. This is a biannual event which was first started in the 1970’s.
If you intend to go, look for accommodation now (although there will be a camp site) as the nearest accommodation soon gets snapped up.
Entries are now open; First Closing date (Biggest entry discount) is 31st January Second Closing date 30th April and last closing date 30th June.
British Championships 4th-6th May
The British Champs in 2019 will be hosted by Yorkshire in the areas around Leeds. The weekend consists of a Mixed Sprint Relay, the Long Distance Champs (on Kilnsey Moor) and a Relay Championships. Entries are now open; First Closing date (Biggest entry discount) is 3rd February. Second Closing date 10th March and last closing date 21st April
British Sprint and Middle Distance Champs (14th and 15th September)
Hosted by East Midlands Region the Sprint Championships are in Leicester and the Middle Distance Champs in Derbyshire. More details when they are published.
