Do you want to improve your orienteering?

news, training

HH is pleased to announce that it will be holding a series of orienteering technical training sessions beginning in October this year.

The sessions will last one hour starting at 9.30 am before each Saturday Series event.

Full details can be found below.    If you do intend to join us at 9.30 on 1st October, please let me know by responding (keith@familymarsden.org or tel. no. 01923 225197) so that we can have sufficient maps printed and please be punctual so that you do not disrupt the sessions by arriving late.

Currently the programme is planned to be;

1st October    Verulamium Skill: Map Symbols/Control Descriptions
12th November    Stanborough Skill: Compass
3rd December    Cassiobury* Skill: Attack points
7th January    Heartwood Skill: Relocation
4th March   Chipperfield Skill: Route Selection
1st April    Mardley Skill: Use of Contours

* subject to map availability

Coaching will be aimed principally at two groups of participants; beginners and intermediates, although we do hope that even experienced members of the club will come along in order to share some of their experience and expertise.

By beginners we mean anyone running orange, yellow or white courses or anyone who has been orienteering for less than one year;  intermediates would be anyone who is not a beginner but with technical challenges at all levels.

The principal coaches for these two groups will be Frances Goldingay (Beginners) and Kevin Fielding (Intermediates)

There will be no charge to club members for these sessions. Non-members will be charged £2 per session.

Assembly and car parking will be for the corresponding Saturday Series event.
