Our next Saturday League event will be held at Heartwood Forest, north of St Albans on January 7th. Event details… Although this is not a Youth League event – it’s before the start of term at some schools – young people are welcome. It’s a good chance to practise without the pressure of inter-team competition.
Why not save time & form-filling at registration by pre-entering through our map reservation facility?
The 3rd round of the Youth League saw very tight competition with four schools scoring over 900 points. Beechwood Park School won the round by just 1 point (982 v 981) from St Albans High School, with Hadrian Academy and Habs close behind.
In the Maureen Webster Memorial Trophy, St Albans had the most competitors reducing the lead of Beechwood. With 5 of the individual classes have leading margins of 3 points, we have an exciting last couple of rounds.
The next Youth League event is on the 4th February at Fairlands Valley Park, Stevenage, before the final round which will be at Chipperfield Common on 4th March. However as organiser I should also plug the January Saturday Series event (not Youth League) on the 7th January at Heartwood, Sandridge; there will be Yellow Orange, Light Green and Blue curses available.
Results are now available….
There are still a few spaces available on the following First Aid Courses;
1) HH are holding a 4 hr First Aid course on 3rd December 1.30pm- 6pm in St Albans
Cost to club members is £20
2) SEOA are holding a 2 day Outdoor First aid course on 14-15th January in a venue close to M25/A3 junction.
Cost about £130 (of which SEOA will refund 50% to members of HH).
Both courses will be tutored by Flora Schnider of London Ambulance Service.

HH placed 8th in the CompassSport Cup Final at Tankersley Wood near Sheffield on Sunday 16th October 2016. The event was won by Forth Valley Orienteers ahead of hosts South Yorkshire Orienteers. HH were narrowly edged by local rivals Southdown Orienteers.
in terms of points scored, there were particularly strong performances by Kevin Harding, Alan Rosen, Simon Errington, Janet Rosen, Sam Fielding, Alex Fielding and Hannah Freeman. But thank you to all of the 39 Club members who made the trek north on a very wet Sunday morning. Unfortunately, we could not stop the competition at 12.15pm at which point, after some good early runs, HH were leading!
